sidewall flex. The wheels and tires will also cost less. 18s will offer less sidewall flex (which gives a crisper response in turn-in), but weigh more. For a pure performance standpoint, 17s would probably be favorable over the 18s (though only by a slim margin). However, from an aesthetic point of view, 18s will fill out your wheel wells for a higher BLING factor. Ultimately it is up to you, your budget, and your tastes.
